Where to Submit Your Podcast – The Podcasters’ Studio

    You’ve recorded your first podcast episodes and created a podcast ready RSS feed. Now what?

    After making sure your podcast is available on your website, including an HTML5 (mobile friendly) player, you can begin submitting your podcast (using your RSS feed url) to the largest directories and apps.

    Start with the four directories* listed in this infographic to ensure good coverage in most of the places people get podcasts.

    Everyone will see varying numbers from each of the listed directories but these four will make your podcast available on the biggest platforms (Apple, Android, Microsoft, and Linux).

    The directories listed in the infograph (below) are not necessarily in order of importance but have made this list because in order to be in each one, you have to go to the website and manually submit your podcast.

    Some of the other popular directories, like Overcast, will include in your podcast automatically once you have submitted and been accepted into iTunes.

    Before submitting your podcast to any directory, visit to make sure your feed is valid and formatted for all podcast directories.

    How to Submit Your Podcast

    Apple Podcasts App/iTunes – If you only submit to one directory, this is the one. iTunes desktop and the Podcasts App for iOS are the number one place people find and listen to podcasts.

    Once again, cause it’s so important, by being listed in iTunes, your podcast will also be available in many of the other most popular directories and apps including Pocketcasts, Overcast, Podcast Addict, Downcast, aCast, iCatcher and many more.

    These various directories all use the iTunes API to access the library of podcasts listed on iTunes. Some of the apps that do this such as Pocketcasts, are likely to get more listeners than a few of the other apps listed in the infograph above but because they pull in your show automatically, you don’t have to go each site to submit your podcast. It’s handled for you simply by being in iTunes.

    The newest app to incorporate podcasts is quickly becoming the second largest place to consume podcasts according to Libsyn. Their directory is now open to all podcasters however you do need to be hosting your audio on one of the more popular hosting services such as Libsyn or blubrry. According to Spotify’s FAQ, here is the list of media hosts and other ways, to your get into Spotify:

    “Audioboom Blubbry LibSyn PodBean Podigee. If you host with Spreaker, Podomatic, Midroll, Whooshkaa, Omny, Pippa, Art19, SimpleCast, or Buzzsprout, reach out to your aggregator for more information on how you can authorize Spotify as an additional distribution platform.” Here’s the form with more info and podcast media hosts who have partnered with Spotify for submissions.

    If your host is not currently working with Spotify to submit podcasts, you can use the Spotify Podcast Submission portal.


    Because Stitcher has been the longest running free podcast app on Android, podcasts listed in the Stitcher Radio directory typically receive good download numbers.

    Their share of the market has changed and they are no longer the second most popular place podcasts are consumed but Stitcher is still a good place to submit your podcast.

    To submit to Stitcher, go to, create an account and get your show listed. Because Stitcher pulls your .mp3 file from your feed and hosts it on their own server, you’ll get a very unique stat: how long someone listened to any single episode. Try not to let it get you down;)

    Google Podcasts

    Google has podcasts! Native support for podcasts on Android has been lacking. Google’s return to podcasting gives podcast producers & listeners a native way to find and listen to podcasts on Android devices.

    Your podcast is likely already in the Google Podcasts directory. Congrats! Why is this? Google is scraping podcast RSS feeds from the web and has probably already found yours.

    There are multiple ways to check and see if your podcast can be found via Google Podcasts. You can download and check the Google Podcasts “App” on Android.

    Don’t have an Android device? Use the Google Assistant app on iOS: Use this to check if you’re on Google Podcasts but saying (voice command) “Play NAME OF PODCAST podcast.” If it finds the podcast you asked for and begins to play it, that podcast is in the Google Podcasts App directory.

    Finally you can use the search feature on Podnews. If your podcast is on Google Podcasts, it will display the Google Podcasts badge next to your show’s artwork below the Apple Podcasts badge (if you’re also there and of course you should be).

    In most cases, a good podcast media host will have options or additional tutorials in their dashboard for helping you get onto these most popular directories.

    The podcast directories listed on this page should report statistics back to media hosts that collect stats. If you are not getting stats from these directories via your podcast media host you can add free stats via Podtrac and blubrry’s free version of their stats.


    A blend of terrestrial radio, music and podcasts, TuneIn Radio provides users with a wealth of audio content.

    To submit to TuneIn, simply fill out their form.

    After submitting to these five primary directories, your show, once indexed (be patient), will appear in over 20 directories automatically.

    In total there are more than 100 podcast directories available. Some of them will be more suited to your content than others based on your niche. Take your time, don’t try to submit to all of them in one day.

    When you find that your listens per episode (three weeks after being published) are leveling off, head on over to and take a look at some of the other podcast directories you can submit to.

    Each new podcast directory you join should put your show in front of a new audience.

    Finally, use to create a one-click option for Android users and make sure it’s visible on your website along with these other primary subscription options.

    Your numbers are not likely to skyrocket, podcasting is slow growth, one listener at a time. Stick with it, produce high quality content and you’ll find new listeners everywhere you submit your show.
